Abstrakt
The author proposes possible ways of reading Wesele [The Wedding] by Stanisław Wyspiański in schools. She focuses on aesthetic and ethical issues. Referring to the findings of literary studies and social anthropology, the author indicates ways of reading related to national myths and the different understanding of independence by the intelligentsia and peasants. It directs the analytical reflections of young people on the so-called “background” characters and the importance of cultural differences. The transparency of the lesson formulas reveals the mechanisms of subjective treatment of female and male students.
